Born in 1980 in Milan, Italy, Mattia Albicini studied and achieved a Master’s degree in Industrial Deisgn at Politecnico di Milano in 2006. Subsequent to his graduation Albicini joined the esteemed Basaglia Rota Nodari Associates followed by Toan Nguyen Studio. During this time he work on collaborations with key brands including Dedon, Walter Knoll, Moroso, Lema and Pedrali.
In 2011 and 2012 Albicini located to Sydney, Australia, working with design and communication group Enero, and freelancing for international Italian companies.
In June 2011 he won the "Hands on Door Handles" International Design Competition (head of jury Jasper Morrison), organized by the leading brand Colombo Design.
In 2012 Albicini relocated back to Italy to establish his own studio in Milan. Albicini explores materials and technologies with an eclectic style that combines design detailing with high functionality. Within his own studio Albicini has collaborated with leading brands including Ethimo, Ceccotti Collezioni, Terzani and Made a Mano.
