GAMFRATESI design studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen, though they are continuously travelling between Italy and Denmark for the development and research of new projects.
Stine Gam graduated from the Architect school of Aarhus, Denmark in 2006 with a Master in furniture design, receiving 1st prize for best thesis 2006 in design from the Danish National Bank. She also studied architecture in Torino and Ferrara, Italy. In 2003 she worked in Tokyo for Fumihiko Maki's studio. Enrico Fratesi studied architecture in Firenze and Ferrara, Italy. During his education he also studied architecture at the KTH Stockholm School, and furniture design in Architectschool of Aarhus. In 2005, he worked as architect in Arkitema studio in Aarhus.
The union of their two cultures is a strong element in their design, inspired by simple everyday gestures and deeper aspects of their cultures in a fusion of technology, poetry and tradition. GAMFRATESI has received a long list of awards for their work such as: 3rd prize design competition "Vico magistretti" by De Padova 2007, 2nd prize design competition by Erik Jorgensen 2007, honorable mention design competition "New Walls, please!" by German Design Council2007, selected product young talent by Bernhardt Design 2006, selected product young talent by IDoT, Italian Design on Tour 2006, 1st prize design competition “Young Talent” by Bo Bedre Magazine 2005, etc. They have been selected and participated in numerous exhibitions all over the world, Milano, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Cologne, New York, Shanghai, London, Berlin etc.
