Max Harper is an award-winning independent designer with a special interest in lighting and furniture. He developed an eye for detail and an interest in lighting whilst working in commercial lighting in Melbourne.
Max’s products follow an ideal of being simple yet playful often incorporating narrative into his designs. His studio focuses on sustainability and innovation in materials as well as ease of manufacture. The focus of his studio is to collaborate with manufacturers here in Australia and define himself as part of the emerging talent in the Australian design landscape.
In 2011, Max graduated from RMIT in industrial design with honours and was a finalist for the prestigious Graduate of the Year Award. His work has been displayed numerous times both in Australia and overseas and he is a Melbourne fringe furniture award winner as well as an alumnus of the Melbourne Movement, a launch pad to showcase Australian design excellence in Milan at Salone Del Mobile.
