Paris Meets New York for a Burger

A hot new venue has opened on Paris’s vibrant burger scene.

The Paris New York Burger Restaurant has combined clever references to these two great cities in ways that are anything but kitsch.  The designer for the project, CUT Architectures, set out to meld the cities’ personalities and aesthetics, but in an ultra-modern manner that looks more forward than backward.

For example, the steel bar evokes the cities’ iconic metal edifices, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. It is clad in aluminium and riveted in a way an Airstream caravan might recognize.

The black-and-white tiled floor might be found in any Parisian hallway. The line of light globes under the awning and ceiling are all Broadway. The designers were also very careful to stay away from any cliches, which is what saves it from being just another tourist attraction.

The fitout took seven months at a budget of 180,000 Euros in an area of 90 square metres.

The Paris New York Burger Restaurant is at 50 rue du Faubourg St-Denis 10e.
