Newest Patrons to Grace Australia’s Cafes

Following a review done by the Food Standards Code, which found that dogs hanging out in cafes and restaurants aren’t likely to give diners diseases, people in Queensland, Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory no longer need to leave their canine friends outside while they go in for a cuppa. Of course, this has caused quite a stir amongst those who aren’t proud owners of a dog, and those who would prefer to enjoy their morning cappuccino without the company of these sometimes loud, excitable and smelly patrons. For dog lovers, on the other hand, the findings of the study offer great relief. In light of the study, the RSPCA issued a statement in favour of the findings, saying that “many dogs suffer from separation anxiety, boredom and loneliness when left at home” while their owners are away. Unfortunately, some people experience anxiety when near large and noisy dogs, so dog owners must do their best to contain their pooches underneath — or at least tied to — the cafe furniture.
