Melbourne’s Famous Doll House

This tiny house in Fitzroy has recently been renovated in order to better maximise the space and to bring in more natural light. There are three separate rooms: a living room, kitchen, and bedroom. Two courtyards separate the spaces and bring in the sunlight needed for the area.

The inside of the house features exposed brick. Mirrored panels also give the illusion of space in the small rooms. The original fireplace still stands, along with the wooden floor. A pendant lamp provides additional lighting inside. There are some other individual pieces that demand attention, most noticeably are the three headless ceramic dogs.

The history of the space has been preserved through the timeless gold panels. Furthermore, many of the features of the home serve dual purposes, along with the furniture.

Small houses like the Doll House may catch on in the future because they are less expensive to buy and maintain. It may influence people to reduce clutter and live simpler lives.
