Innovative Process on Display

Ever wondered how designers come up with the unique furniture styles we see each season? Australian designers recently had their wares on display at this years’ The Project: 2013.

The initiative was originally started by Sydney based InDesign, to help the designing community come up with new ideas. High end stores work closely with artists, designers and architects to produce something unique. This year’s theme, Process, inspired some interesting displays.

Team Ke-Zu said that design is about closing the boundaries between real and imaginary. They tried to focus on the ‘process of designing spaces.’

The most popular display was the collaboration between Stormtech, Rice Daubney and Marc Newton – a recyclable, sensor-based ‘mini’ inside storm and waterfall, complete with motion detectors and grey-water grates.

Other innovations included a ‘create your own floor pattern’ competition for the best designed tile floor, while 2000 empty water bottles suspended over the beverage section, which was done to inspire thoughts about the recycling process.
