Aplos was founded in 2019 by Simon Cross and Helen Kontouris following over 20 years of experience in the design industry, collaborating with leading galleries, collectors, and global brands. The studio was established with a clear intention: to create beautifully resolved designs for considered environments that enrich everyday life for generations.

Aplos (Απλός), derived from the Greek word for simplicity, reflects the studio’s philosophy of “beauty in simplicity.”

Based in Australia, Aplos designs and produces locally, with authenticity and craftsmanship at the core of its practice. The studio creates contemporary furniture and design pieces defined by clarity, quality, and enduring visual appeal, balancing innovation with production expertise.

A multidisciplinary practice, Aplos spans product, graphic, and industrial design, working closely with skilled craftspeople, master upholsterers, and artisans to ensure exceptional quality and detail in every piece.
